Organization

So I have determined the key to this whole mommy thing is organization. Plus it is an easy place to start. My first project was easily tackled.

THE COMMAND CENTER:

My husband has this huge dry erase board left over from medical school. He used it when memorizing things. He refused to get rid of it so it has been moved twice and kept in storage closets. I have now decided to re-use it. I had him hang it on one of the empty walls in my kitchen. (because the kitchen is the heart of the home right?). One the top of the board I have listed things needed to be done this week and a list of upcoming events/dates to remember (birthdays, parties, etc). At the bottom I have written "Hi Daddy, today we:". Right now it will just say what the dog and I did while my husband was at work. Soon I will keep track of what I do with my daughter. I think this will help him feel slightly more involved in what we did and as my daughter gets older we can use it as a learning tool.

This was a simple project but made me feel like I accomplished something which I think is needed to staying motivated on this journey.

upcoming projects: meal plan/grocery list/coupon binder, Baby furniture, 4th of July wreath craft

Welcome!

In the past 3 weeks I have left my job, packed up my apartment, bought a house and moved to that house half way across the country. That is a lot of changes especially because I am currently 27 weeks pregnant with my first child. Due to the fact that finding another job as a personal trainer before my daughter is born is slightly unrealistic I am starting this new chapter as a stay at home mom. Yes, I know I technically do not have a child to take care of yet but I figure this gives me a jump start on the whole mommy thing.

Now that I am in this role I have realized I am not really prepared to be the mom I always thought I would be. I always imagined I would be that awesome super mom that always had everything together. You know who I am talking about. The mom who always had a clean house, who made the best Halloween costumes, who had decorations for every holiday, cookies were always on the table, she helped out at school every week, was constantly crafting, the mom you went to if you needed something (because she had anything and everything in her purse) and their kids seemed really cool and you always wanted to hang out at their house. Yeah, that mom. I want to be her. My problem is, I have almost no creative ability and I can't bake or sew. So now that I have a little less than 12 weeks till my daughter is born I have decided to start trying to find my way to becoming this fantastic super mom. I have a distinct feeling it might be an epic fail but I am sure I will have fun and a few laughs along the way.

Dont worry this is not going to become another blog dedicated to eveything my daughter does (at least I hope not). I wont be documenting her every burp and giggle. My plan is more to try some crafty things, make my house pretty by finding good deals and re-purposing things, and to explore fun places around St. Louis. I hope to focus my blog posts on these aspects. So stay tuned and enjoy the show.
